A Peerpitch cohort is a small, fixed group of 8 builders working at the same stage — people who understand exactly what you're dealing with because they're dealing with the same things right now. Unlike a large community where your updates get lost in the noise, a cohort creates genuine mutual accountability: your 7 fellow members notice when you go quiet, cheer when you ship, and push back when you're stuck. That's what makes cohorts the most powerful feature on Peerpitch — not just a feed to post into, but a group of real people waiting to see what you shipped today.
Cohort structure
Every cohort on Peerpitch is built on the same foundation:
8 builders, exactly
Cohorts are capped at 8 members. Small enough that everyone knows everyone; large enough that there's always someone online. When a cohort fills, the next interested builder joins the waitlist for the next group.
Same stage, same focus
Builders are matched by stage — for example, SaaS • Building. You're grouped with people working through the same challenges, not people who've already solved them or haven't reached them yet.
Weekly health tracking
Each cohort has a live health score based on member posting activity vs. the previous week. Status shows as Active (healthy engagement) or At Risk (activity has dropped).
Named cohorts
Active cohorts are named Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and so on. Your cohort name becomes part of your builder identity on the platform.
What happens in a cohort
When you're in a cohort, your group's activity is visible on the /cohorts page. Members post their daily updates to the main feed, and the cohort health score reflects how actively the group is posting week over week.
In practice, being in a cohort means:
- You post, they see it. Your cohort members follow your updates and can react and comment — your progress isn't anonymous.
- They post, you see it. You get a front-row view of 7 other builders grinding through the same stage, which is motivating in a way that a broadcast feed isn't.
- Collective accountability. When your cohort's health score dips toward "At Risk," everyone feels it. The shared score creates gentle social pressure to keep showing up.
- Momentum through launch. By the time you're ready to launch, your cohort has watched you build for weeks. They're pre-warmed and ready to amplify your launch day — and you do the same for them.
Cohort health
Each cohort's health is tracked weekly and displayed publicly on the /cohorts page.
| Metric | What it measures | |---|---| | Activity this week | Posting activity vs. the previous week (e.g., +14% means the cohort is more active than last week) | | Health status | Active — cohort is engaged; At Risk — activity has dropped below a healthy threshold | | Builder count | Always 8/8 for an active cohort |
Active cohorts example
Here's what the current active cohorts look like on the platform:
| Cohort | Focus | Activity | Health | |---|---|---|---| | Alpha | SaaS • Building | +8% vs last week | At Risk | | Beta | SaaS • Building | +14% vs last week | At Risk | | Gamma | SaaS • Building | +3% vs last week | At Risk | | Delta | SaaS • Building | +12% vs last week | At Risk |
Cohort Beta is the most active this week — members include Arjun Mehta, Workflow Assist, Arif Rahman, and 5 other builders (some anonymous), collectively up 14% on posting activity from last week.
How to join a cohort
Joining a cohort happens through the matching flow. Peerpitch matches you with 7 builders at your stage based on what you're building and where you are in the journey.
Go to /cohorts or /onboarding
Visit peerpitch.co/cohorts and click "Get matched with builders at your stage", or go directly to peerpitch.co/onboarding to start the matching flow.
Complete the onboarding flow
Answer a few questions about what you're building, your current stage, and what kind of accountability you're looking for. This is what Peerpitch uses to find you the right group.
Get matched
Once matched, you'll be placed into a cohort with 7 other builders. You'll see your cohort on the /cohorts page and start appearing alongside your new group.
Start posting
Your cohort is watching. Post your first update to introduce yourself and your project — your cohort members will be doing the same.
Waitlist option
If all current cohorts are full, you can join the waitlist directly from /cohorts or /onboarding. You'll be matched into the next cohort as soon as a group of 8 is ready to form.
What cohorts unlock
Being in a cohort isn't just about accountability during the build — it changes what your launch looks like. By the time you're ready to ship:
- Your cohort has followed every update for weeks and is invested in your success
- Your followers, built through daily posting, are already familiar with your product
- The community knows your name and your project before you ask them for anything
That's why 47% of Peerpitch builders launch within 90 days of joining the platform. The cohort structure means you never launch into silence.
Cohorts are capped at exactly 8 members and don't accept late additions once full. If the cohort you're interested in shows 8/8 Builders, click the waitlist option on the /cohorts page to be matched when the next group forms. Waitlist matching happens as soon as 8 builders at your stage are ready — typically within a few days.
